Programs and Partnerships
Unity in Motion offers recurrent Saturday morning programming through a collaboration with St. Marcus Lutheran School. Students who attend St. Marcus and/or are part of Unity in Motion’s Scholar Mentoring Program—regardless of where they attend school—are eligible to enroll. We offer a variety of programming including African dance, African drumming, art, martial arts, drum line, and a variety of other options. UPAF (United Performing Arts Fund) sought out and chose Unity in Motion as a partner agency and is offering it’s programming from groups such as Danceworks, First Stage, and Skylight Music Theatre into the Saturday sessions as well. Programming for parents, on topics such as budgeting, home ownership, parenting, and goal setting, are also offered. This partnership with St. Marcus—a recognized leader in urban education—allows for an even more cost-effective and sustainable program model and provides opportunities for Unity in Motion mentors to connect with both scholars and their families.
Unity in Motion partners with high-performing schools and programs to ensure that our youth have access to the resources needed to support their individual development. In some cases, we refer scholars to other organizations that have structured and recurrent programming such as PEARLS for Teen Girls, PeppNation, or College Possible. In other cases, we collaborate directly to provide programming.
